Happy Monday My Lovelies! Do you realize we are 8 weeks out from Christmas? If you said “ugh” I’m right there with you. And I love Christmas time. I just like it to at least start after Halloween 🎃 👻. At least I get to see trick or treaters for the first time in 9 years – YAY ME!
Speaking of Halloween, I took my self out Saturday to enjoy the latest in the Halloween saga and I have a few thoughts (no real spoilers here 😁). First, how does anyone think a handheld circular saw is and appropriate weapon against Michael? There is no flexibility in that type of saw and it’s not the easiest to wield! Next, why do they waist ammo when they don’t have a clear shot? And shooting him never works, EVER! Also how has no one shot him in the head by this point? Moreover, I want to know who keeps giving him a new mask – that thing is fifty+ years old and been beat on as much as him, don’t tell me it hasn’t been damaged and in need of replacement, so who is his accomplice? Lastly, he’s 61 years old in the latest movie (it’s set in 2018 taking up where the last movie left off) – how has he not had any health issues carrying around all that hatred for 55 years – that’s gottta cause some issues, right? These are the burning questions I have about the movie/series! 😆😆😆
All that aside, the Halloween series is by far my favorite horror series, and I’ve been enjoying different Halloween movies throughout the month of October, except for Rob Zombie’s Halloween remakes because I think the original still holds after all these years. And also Halloween III Season of the Witch, because it’s a decent standalone movie, but has little to do with the series.
As it is the spookiest month of the year, I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite scary and not so scary movies for you to check out if you haven’t already. Be forewarned, most are from the 80’s because that’s my thing 😁.
On to the list:
- Fright Night – the original is very campy, which I love, and the remake is more serious and I can appreciate that.
- Of course, you can’t forget the Nightmare on Elm Street series – original all the way!
- Once Bitten is good for a laugh and has a very young Jim Carrey spearheading this goofy vampire movie.
- Speaking of vampire movies – the original Salem’s Lot and the Rob Lowe remake are both worth watching. The kid outside the window still gives me nightmares 😱.
- Other Stephen King hits – Pet Semetary, 1408, Christine for sure, and definitely the original Carrie with Sissy Spacek and IT – remake and original.
- We also can’t forget the original Poltergeist. That damn 🤡 gets me every time!
- Lastly, if you can find her, I would recommend Elvira, Mistress of the Darkness Movie Macabre – She gets some of the worst B movies that are just so much fun to watch, especially with her running commentary. Three favorites of mine growing up were Pigs, Alien Contamination (a.k.a. Contamination) and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (classically bad movie 😆).
Just a few suggestions to get you through the rest of the month, with a little something for everyone.
Happy (almost) Halloween My Lovelies!
Note: Guess what tomorrow is? Mama’s Boy for the win!
