I keep trying to come up with clever titles but I’m starting to repeat myself 😜😜. So for the rest of the season (which is probably a few more episodes – 12 to 14 maybe?) I’ll just site the season/episode number.
Shekeb, Emily and Laila (mom): The fallout from the “promise ring” fiasco continues this week. And I’ve decided that promise rings are bad after a certain age, like 16 😆😆. As it was pointed out by Emily’s friend you’re getting engaged to be engaged, why not just get engaged. Good point – I think I said something less eloquently in a previous post 😁. Before Emily departs the non-proposal event, which in her defense appeared as a proposal (ugh I hate defending her) she massively disrespects Laila in front of Shekeb – which could be her final nail in the coffin. It was bad enough she was throwing a tantrum but to take a mouthful of champagne and spit it in his mother’s direction, I wouldn’t abide by that either! As for the ring, Skekeb gifts it to his mother after all. Just no Shekeb 🤦♀️. After a few days, Emily decides to talk to her (above mentioned) friend and realizes she acted horribly, so good on her for that. She actually said she wasn’t gracious and decides she wants to try to salvage the relationship. Yeah, like Laila’s gonna let that happen 😒. She basically told Shekeb that Emily is dead to her. Quite frankly, they all acted like assholes over this whole thing – Shekeb for pulling the whole promise ring stint instead of just having a conversation with Emily; Emily for acting like an ungracious brat because she was disappointed and embarrassed (not sure why she was embarrassed – because of the camera people maybe?); and Laila, who still hates Emily, deciding they need to test her with the stupid promise ring.
Bryan, Tracy and Jayne (mom): The real dysfunctionality of Bryan and Jayne really shows in this episode 😬. Tonight’s story arc for this trio is that Jayne has been asked out on date from one of the dating apps! Go Jayne! Tracy is beyond thrilled as she hopes it will get Jayne to be less focused on her family (good luck with that 😆). Since Jayne is nervous, she asks if Tracy and Bryan will double date with her (of course she didn’t mention it to the date, who was quite gracious about it). So it turns out Jayne hasn’t had a relationship since Bryan’s father left them years ago (FYI – Bryan is 29) because she was so hurt by the experience, she put her love life on a shelf (even I’m not that bad 🙄). And Bryan wanted to keep her from every being hurt again, so he has been completely against the idea of her dating, ever. So if you haven’t guessed already, the date does not start off well as Bryan is openly hostile to this guy and it’s only the first date. I was surprised that Jayne called him out for his rudeness and Tracy is regretting her decision to double date. The date is to be continued next week, but I think you can see why I said the dysfunctionality is really coming out this episode 😳.
Theous, Tia and Carolyn (mom): Theous decides the best way to set boundaries with his mom is to take her out to lunch and not tell Tia 🤦♀️. During their lunch, Carolyn is complaining that her knee isn’t better (probably because she won’t do her PT exercises at home?) and she thinks that if she moves in permanently with Theous and Tia it will help her knee get better (yeah you figure that logic out because I’ve got nothing 🤷🏼♀️ 😆) and Theous agrees, WITHOUT TALKING TO TIA 🤯🤯. These two are killing me 😵. So they drive home so Theous can pretend to ask Tia about it without telling her he already agreed to let Carolyn move in (to a 2-story house with her bad knee), while Carolyn hides upstairs. Since Tia believes in family helping family, she agrees as long as Theous continues to work on becoming independent from his mom (remember to pay his bills on time, help his son with homework, etc.). Tia is a better person than I am because I don’t know that I could invite someone who openly causes problems in my relationship and disrespects me frequently into my home. I can’t even imagine how this will work out 🤔.
Now the best for last – Matt, Kim and Kelly (mom): First I have to say I have a girl crush on Kim. Honestly, the way she has composed herself living in with Matt’s parents and taking constant verbal punches from Kelly is beyond impressive and I really want her to find a healthy relationship where she is the third wheel (it’s like a weird throuple and Kim is the one getting kicked out of bed every time because she isn’t the primary in the relationship with Matt 😬). So it turns out that after a few weeks of constant contact, Kim has been m.i.a for 2 days. When Matt finally gets ahold of her to show her the progress on the house (with Kelly snooping in on their conversation of course 😡) she is a little short with him and it’s obvious something is up. Matt realizes that he needs to visit asap to salvage their relationship so he tells her he will be coming as soon as he can get a flight which Kim agrees to. And of course, Kelly says make it two tickets (first class for her she says 🙄) because she wants to be there if things go wrong. Jeez lady, he’s an adult – let him figure it out himself! Flash to Austin where we see Kim having drinks with her new friends. And my lovelies, she is NOT wearing her ring 😮😮😮😮 (yes I looked for it 😆)! Am I surprised? Given the fact that every week since she announced her promotion I’ve told her to run – nope, not at all 😁. Kim is realizing how f🤬🤬🤬ed up and toxic their relationship is and that she feels like she can breathe in Austin. If any of you laid bets that this would be a good move for her, make sure you get you 💲💲💲.
Next week we see Matt, Kim and of course Mrs. Buttinsky Kelly meeting up to talk. It doesn’t look good 😳.
So ends another not a recap recap. I don’t know what I’m going to do when this season ends as this is one of my favorite shows to talk about ☹️☹️. I guess I’ll have to find something else just as off the beaten path as this show 😁. If you have any suggestions…
Before I sign off, if you are an animal lover, I have an awesome new show to suggest – Arctic Vets on Nat Geo Wild! The animals they treat are amazing to see, so give it a shot if you are so inclined 😊😊.
