This Would Be #Pissed Off, if I Did #s

Last week one of my favorite places really irked the hell out of me and I am reconsidering why I bother with them.

You see Tuesdays are new book release days and when I have a book or two I’ve been waiting on, it’s like Christmas to me 😊. And because I had gift cards for Barnes and Noble, I trotted my (not so little) behind down to the closest B&N – which is 26 miles away! But I go because not only do I get my new books, I look at the bargain bin to find new authors to read. Now if I find an author I really like, the next book they come out with will be added to my new release list to be picked up.

It is a journey to do this, but I am a loyal customer of B&N. However, this trip did not end as plan. Upon my arrival to the store, I find book number one on my list – Diablo Mesa by Preston and Child. I take a quick scan for book number two Stephen King and Richard Chismar’s  Gwendy’s Final Task, the final book in the trilogy. Not seeing it, I go to the trusty clerk who, after a quick computer search, tells me they don’t have it in yet! IT’S STEPHEN KING FOR GODDESS SAKE! How do you NOT have him in the store?!? And yes, before you ask, it was the correct release date. They just didn’t get any in.

I have been looking forward to this book for months only to have to order it and wait for it to arrive, which is frustrating because I wanted to read that first, but started on the other one instead (the King/Chismar book has since arrived, but I only read one book at a time 😊)And then, in what might be the final nail in the B&N coffin for me, they have decided that the only fiction they are going to carry in their sales section are classics that have been reissued!

Yes, I am using a lot of exclamation points 😆. To be fair, I was majorly pissed 🤬.

Apparently, B&N has decided that they are not discounting older, usually hard cover books. WTH? This is how Amazon wins the book war My Lovelies. That and the fact B&N aren’t offering the member discounts they once did. I literally pay a membership fee to get just 10 percent off new releases – unless it’s a best seller by the time it hits the shelves (and that’s not even guaranteed 🙄). Now, I will pay a little extra at the bookstore, because I love being in there, wandering for hours checking out the books. But with all these changes, I may have to reconsider my membership!

Get it together B&N 😡.

On a happier note, it’s 2-22-22 and I think a lottery pick or two might be in order 😁.
