Somedays we need an unexpected kindness or a thoughtful gesture, something that turns our mood on its head, in a good way 😊.
Yesterday, I was sitting at my island doing some reading online when out of the corner of my eye, I see movement at the front door. I look over and see the UPS driver dropping off a box. He rings the doorbell then leaves (as they are wont to do 😆) and I am left wondering if I had been shopping in my sleep because I hadn’t ordered anything recently 😳. So, I grab the package to bring it inside, thinking it’s the wrong address (it wasn’t) when I see that it has a gift card attached. Now I’m really confused because it wasn’t my birthday or any other special day 🤔.
I open the card to find that my financial planner Zak, who I am friendly with since we bonded over our love of dogs (I had sent him some gifts when he had gotten his new puppy Duck 💜), had sent me a peace lily to mark the passing of my baby girl Reese. You see we hadn’t caught up since before Christmas, so he was unaware Reese had passed (he always asks after her as I do Duck). As I have been having some up and down days lately, the plant was an unexpected kindness and has gone a long way towards improving my mood. Of course, when I thanked him, I joked that his fiancée had put him up to it (she hadn’t 😁) but I thanked them both anyway. And sent Duck belly rubs as usual.
Not I’ve got to keep the plant alive 😬 😆😆.
Somedays, a simple gesture goes a long way.
Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.
