Just when you think you’ve got everything separated out from your ex, you discover yet another connection that has to be severed 🤬.
I recently remembered that my ex and I had done a 23anMe DNA test years ago. At the time he tucked all of our information under one account (let this be a lesson – keep stuff like this separated) and I don’t have the login information. And it’s just one more tie connecting me to him 🤮.
So I called to see if that tie could be severed and praise the goddesses it can. As long as I can recall any data that would call up the account 🤦♀️. We start with just my name, hyphenated of course, and then name and DOB – nothing. Then we try his name, again nothing (????? probably used Mike instead of Michael). Next email address, easy right? Nope he had a few at the time, so I had no idea which one it could be. I tried his general account (after I searched all over my computer, because I chose not to remember it 😜). We tried his name and DOB and I actually forgot the year he was born stupid broken brain 🤣🤣 (I finally realized I was only off by a year 🤷🏼♀️). Lastly, we used the phone number (still had to try to different ones, of course 🙄) and finally hit paydirt! It turns out he used my first name and his last name, no hyphen, which is why they couldn’t find it. Wouldn’t you think that the program was smart enough to make the connection, with first name, hyphenated, and DOB even if hyphenate wasn’t used? Especially when your first name is fairly unique and the spelling is not common (Charleen vs Charlene, Sharlene or Sharleen). Add the DOB and it should come up, right? Nope! This took a ridiculous amount of data mining to find the magic combination 🤯. But it was accomplished, I think, 🙏🏻.
Next steps in this nightmare process? Waiting for a form from 23andMe to be emailed (after it’s escalation), filled out and returned then just maybe I can see if any new data I was unaware of has been attached to my sample. Fingers crossed 🤞. However, if I have learned nothing in the past three years, I have learned this: with me this small will have unforeseen problems down the road. I predict a second call will need to be made 😁. I swear somedays…
Can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next 🙄😆😆. Wish me luck 😊!
Good luck! Hope this is the last link you have to sever!
