Not a Recap – The Courtship Ep. 12

Note: Sorry for putting the wrong episode number on last week’s post. It should have read Ep. 11, which I have since fixed 😁.

Nineteen suitors came to win the hand of Ms. Remy and only three survived. By the end of a ridiculously long (2 unnecessary hours 🙄) episode one will be left standing – dun dun duh!!!! (Too much? 😜). It’s Finale Night!

This week’s Daily Tea announces that the heroine and the final three suitors will be leaving and each of the remaining gentlemen will plan a real-world date with our lovely Ms. Remy in an effort to show her what life outside of Regency Era England would be like. Because one date in the real world will make all the difference (even harder eyeroll than usual).

Mr. Bochicchio is up first, and he takes her to a park in old York (the city in which this is set) just like he would in New York, where he is from (see what he did there? 😉). Next, after an outfit change, Mr. Remy meets Mr. Judge at a bar and I have to wonder who planned these dates (?!?). I mean Mr. B’s at least seemed thought out and made sense for him. But Mr. Judge thought an afternoon date at a bar was the winning move? Color me confused 🖍🖍. And then we have Mr. Cones, who brings the night sky to Ms. Remy in the form of a tent and projector. But it’s not just any night sky, he had them recreate the sky over Seattle on the night she was born. Gotta say, that would definitely woo me 🥰. Apparently, Mr. Cones likes to go out to Joshua Tree, camping out and star gazing. In my opinion, Mr. B and Mr. Cones win the individual “real-world” date 😁.

Alas, we must return to the castle after what appeared to be a day full of dates but was actually filmed over a week (Ms. Remy let that slip, oops 😬). However, they are stopped just short of the castle because Ms. Remy may only bring two of the three men back with her in the carriage. And, sadly, Mr. Cones is sent home. I had my doubts about him, as he is an actor, and maybe he is a great actor, but he genuinely looked crushed 😢.

The next day, each suitor has one last chance to plead their case to both Ms. Remy AND her parents. Each suitor will spend time separately with the parents and the lady of the castle.

Mr. Judge is under the parent spotlight first and he says all the right things. I mean they went a little easy on him, because he has been a front runner and quite honest about his intentions to continue with the relationship, post Regency life.

In the meantime, Mr. B (the producers?) plans a special date that includes the poor girl riding side saddle again. As an aside, I am not a big fan of two people riding one horse together unless it’s a draft and even then… So, they end up in this fairy tale spot in the forest where there is tree filled with rolled up notes. Apparently, Mr. B has written thoughts down that he couldn’t say to her in the past – the cutest being “My mom is going to love you”. The last one to be pulled down on camera is blank and that’s because Mr. B wants to say that thought to her out loud. And if you put money down on him finally declaring his love than go collect your winnings 😜!

And then we reverse positions. Mr. Judge takes Ms. Remy on an outing where he calls a falcon carrying a key to him (I’m sure he’s a master falconer, I say sarcastically). The key opens a “secret door” which really takes them to the top tier of the castle ballroom where the Farewell Balls have occurred. It is really massive, with a gorgeous painted ceiling! Mr. Judge makes some sort of proclamation of giving her the world or something. Sorry, I didn’t care enough to pay attention because it seemed a little ridiculous 🤷‍♀️. Next, they travel into the woods for an evening by the campfire and some charcuterie. They discuss the number of kids that they each want and then Mr. Judge says the one thing that annoys me when people talk about kids and that is he wants 3, two boys and a girl 🤦‍♀️. You want three kids great, but don’t act like you have a say in the sex of those three kids because it’s not like you get to choose. Unless you are doing in vitro with fertilized eggs that the sex has already been determined. Be grateful for whatever you are blessed with! It is such a pet peeve of mine 😒.

At the same time the afternoon part of their date is happening, Mr. B is being grilled far harder that Mr. Judge was, and I get it. He has been somewhat hesitant during this process. But at least he has been honest about his thoughts and feelings the entire time, unlike another person (looking at you Mr. Chapman 👀). And he says he will continue to do so if he and Ms. Remy move forward.

Now it’s the night of the Diamond Ball and I have to say, Mr. Edwards is just yummy looking in his tux – so tall, so handsome 😍 🤤. But I digress. Tonight is decision night and Ms. Remy is dressed in something akin to a wedding dress 🙄. A little too on the nose if you ask me. But then everyone on the court is dressed in white, so I guess it works 🤷‍♀️?

I’m going to spare you the details because at this point all we want to know is who wins the heart of the fair maiden, even though I’m pretty sure I know who’s going home with Ms. Remy 😁. But before the final decision, Ms. Remy seeks the council of her parents, who do they give their blessing to? In a surprise to no one, they approve of both suitors. So, not helpful at all 😆😆😆.

We get edits of her talking to both men and who knows which conversation came first in reality, but Mr. Judge is the first to pull her aside and sadly she breaks his heart and sends him on his way. You see her heart belongs to Mr. Bochicchio and now it’s time to tell him!

He meets her where they had their date (and the first solo date of the show) and he gets down on one knee and proposes and I’m calling a little bit of producer bullshit on this. He has been adamant that while he wants a post-show relationship but not sure about marriage until they get to know each other IRL and here he is going against everything he has professed. And that is why I don’t like these type of shows 😡.

But she says yes and he asks if he is the last one left, to which she also answers yes, so I guess she really did talk to Mr. Judge first. Color me surprised 🖍🖍.

They return to the party and announce their engagement and her sister (who has been a Mr. B fan from the beginning) nearly drops to the floor in excitement at the announcement. Congratulations all around and they continue their party as the season closes out – no reunion or 6 month follow-up to let us know what’s going on or if they are still together. And my internet search yielded no answers either, but it doesn’t appear that they broke up, Or, if they did, they are keeping it very quiet.

And that is that for the season. No news on whether the show will be renewed for a second season, but I doubt I will watch. I gave it first season try, but there are not enough emoji’s in the world to convey the amount of sarcasm I felt in some of these episodes.

Be that as it may, I do wish the new couple happiness and success in their relationship 🍾🥂. Oh and I was right btw 😁.

I will be back to not recapping soon because I Love a Mama’s Boy is coming back next week, so stay tuned!
