Welcome back My Lovelies! I was feeling creatively depleted last week, so I ditched writing and switched to reading 😁. Of course, that was after I spent a day with a special someone, and his mom 🤪. Yep, decided to pay my darling (not so little – he’s growing like a weed 😮) nephew and my sister a visit last Tuesday. Sometimes, you just need a break 🤷♀️.
And it’s been pretty quiet in this “neck of the woods” so to speak. A lot of my favorite shows ended their seasons, so I watched Season 4 part 1 of Stranger Things and it is a great season, except for the mass amount of bullying scenes (IMO). Those scenes were giving me some anxiety at the sheer viciousness of some of the characters 😬. I find that my tolerance for mean, manipulative people in movies and shows is growing shorter with each passing year. On the plus side – the scene with a trip to the roller rink brought back fond memories 🛼.
I’ve also been spending some time in the 80’s lately, rewatching old favorites and gloriously bad movies from that time period. War Games, The Outsiders, Red Dawn have been showing up on non-network tv, so I’ll sit and watch when they do. As for the gloriously bad movies there has been Flash Gordon (ah-ah, saviour of the universe… if you know it, you sang it 😜), Spellcaster (with Adam Ant 😆😆😆) and Witchboard (Tawny Kitaen before it all went bad 😢) to name a few. And I have reveled in their campiness. I think that’s why remakes of some 80’s movies don’t do so well. There was a level of irony and absurdity that they may or may not have intentional, and that makes these films great bad movies, and they should be celebrated as such 😁.
The only other eventful (if you can call it that) thing going on in my household is year two of BUGS!!!! It’s not ants (thank the goddess), but somehow these god forsaken flying bugs are getting in and they are driving me to the edge of insanity 😳. There must be something about the month of June and my house that encourages bug attacks 🤬🤬🤬. Thankfully the spray guy came today and informed me that the flying, small, hard shelled black bugs are baby stink bugs 🤢 along with the gnats again. Fortunately, I’ve killed most of them but SERIOUSLY! I guess I’ll keep the bug spray handy, and the doors coated at all times as I think that’s how they are getting in. FYI – baby stink bugs don’t smell when you kill them (whew 😮💨).
So that’s just a quick catch-up from the “old homestead” (cowgirling it up for y’all today).
I hope to get back to my regularly scheduled blogging this week and invite you to join in the fun. Next post will be about books as I’ve read some interesting authors lately 😊. And I will fill you in on the cast of characters for the new season of I Love a Mama’s Boy 😁. Sadly, I misread the return date as June 9th but it’s really June 19th so we have to wait ten days longer 😒. Sorry about the confusion.
